FAQ for New (and old) Members of the Hellfire Club
1. What is up with the ranks?
Generally speaking, raiders are highly dependable individuals who are capable of tackling the hardest content. They are the best geared and generally the first chosen for any given raid - raiders must maintain a 70% attendance rate. Members are also capable individuals but usually do not meet the 70% attendance requirement, often used to fill in for raids where we are missing raiders or certain classes. While most of the time, raiders will get priority over members, this is not always the case. We do try to keep our members up to date with gear and experience so that they are *able* to fill in when necessary. Occasionally, raiders may be asked to sit out for a member. Socials are those who usually have no interest in raiding, friends of raiders, or those who have very unpredictable schedules. Socials are not often used in 25 man raids, but can find places in 10 man events.
2. How does DKP work?
We use a straight up cost per item system. Most items are worth 6 dkp or 8 dkp (for tier items). We've had to remain pretty flexible with the system as Blizzard keeps tweaking its own loot acquirement options - badges etc. The ultimate goal of the dkp system is to just fairly distribute loot.
3. Who are the officers for ........ ?
We don't have assigned officers for specific tasks, but generally the following applies
Shanthrax - GM, maintains website, forum, approvals for raid, also does loot and dkp Horko - Coordinates tanking and uploads the raid parses Chased - Healing officer, coordinates healers mainly Durgha - ranged dps, parse expert Sanquina - Strategist and melee dps Semira - honorary officer, but has special privileges for organizing bank and raid calendar
Booker, Jingxia, Kizel = people you should listen to in raids, often main assist, tank or other key player.
4. When do we do 10 mans?
10 mans are usually done on Tues, Fri or Saturdays. Various people coordinate and invite for these raids and it can change per week. If possible we will try to split into multiple groups. Because of the nature of 10 mans, not everyone will be able to get into every run, please avoid causing drama to those willing to put the 10 mans together. Also, you are welcome to PUG 10 mans.
5. When Should I Log In?
Sign-ups should be done at least a half an hour in advance of the scheduled raid time. The raid is chosen at around 4:30 server time and if you aren't signed up, there won't be a spot for you. Sometimes, late sign-ups are given a spot but it usually means that someone gets bumped out for the late guy, which is something to be avoided. You should be logged in at least 10 min before raid start time, that's when invites go out. If you're not on, we start looking for replacements. Also, if you're know you are going to be late, indicate on your sign-up, we do occasionally hold spots for people when we know they will be here.

Monday, October 12, 2009 : Happy Columbus Day!

This week, we're going to try to put our best foot forward on our best attendance days - that's Wednesday and aim for Heroic ToC that day. This leaves the rest of the week to do easier content on days we don't always have optimal signups.
We are also going to see an influx of new recruits this week as well and an overhaul of our current raiding core. REMINDER: To maintain raider status you must have a 70% attendance, something I think is fairly liberal - it allows for a person to miss 1 raid a week. Problem is, when everyone is missing one raid a week, we start to sputter out because the whole system just can't support that level of absentee-ism.
So, as we're bringing in recruits, keep in mind your raid spot is not guaranteed, we do have to rotate people in - particularly on nights where there are upgrades to be had.

Monday, September 7, 2009 : Signups
|
Shanthrax |
I've been noticing a trend of people not signing up and also not noting that they will be absent. Might not seem like a big deal but when it comes to planning, we're left wondering if you forgot to sign up and maybe you'll be coming on later or if you won't be here at all.
So...stop giving me headaches, sign up as either being there or not so we can put raids together.

Thursday, September 3, 2009 : Upcoming Plans
|
Shanthrax |
Now that Trial of Champions can be opened to hard mode, the plan is to slow down a little in Ulduar and focus mainly in ToC. Most of the gear still desired from Ulduar is from hard modes so we do want to still work on those. The plan is, to use the extended raid time to work on Ulduar hard modes over a lengthened raid period - Thorim, Council, Hodir...etc, meanwhile progressing in ToC.
As for the new progression, try to remember that there is a learning curve for us. Plan to spend money on repairs - hey, do your dailies! Also, try to keep a positive attitude in raids, I know wipes and learning can be frustrating, but we're all still here to have fun, hang out and move forward.
Officers have been working on streamlining some of the raids - improving on planning and assignments so that we don't spend so much downtime in the middle of raids. That also means you should avoid afks in the middle of raids that can slow us down. We try to call a short break mid-raid for potty and drink breaks. If you don't hear one called, feel free to ask for one and if you *must* take an unscheduled break try to do it at a time that won't hold everyone else up.

Sunday, August 23, 2009 : Trials and Tribulation
|
Shanthrax |
Since the patch hit, we've been hard at work on the new dungeon. So far, we haven't had too much trouble with the encounters. School has started which means we will be recruiting more to add to the roster, raids have been looking very lean of late. It's difficult to balance having enough raiders but keeping a rotation (and sit-outs) to a minimum, so be patient.
